Fans of smartphones, get ready for a new entry into the market. Slated as an “iPhone rival”, Nokia announced it will be releasing a brand new smartphone with a smorgasbord of cutting edge features, including but not limited to a 3.5″ 800 x 480 touchscreen, 32GB internal storage, 5 megapixel camera, 3G (1700 mhz) capability, and the new Linux Maemo 5 operating system, which was developed by Nokia specifically for the N900. According to the latest entry in the Washington Post’s TechCrunch blog, the N900 will see a tentative October release…though as us techies know, new gadgets seem to always be released behind schedule. We’ll go the conservative route and say that this beautiful new smartphone sees a late Q4 release - which could be anywhere from October to December, or in other words, right on time for the holiday season.
Nokia and gadget-heads alike view the N900 as one of the iPhones most formidable rivals yet, and one careful look at the tale of the tape shows that that view may not be too far-fetched. Take a look for yourself:

Nokia has not announced who the lucky carrier of the N900 will be, but many speculate that it will be T-Mobile, due to the phone featuring quad-band GSM/EDGE, 900/1700/2100MHz UMTS/HSPA. We should also mention that with a capacity of 32 GB expandable to 48 GB via its microSD slot, this smartphone is more than just a phone, it is a machine. We think Nokia should lure in those reluctant to follow the iPhone and/or Blackberry trend, as well as bring into the fold those who want to be on the cutting edge of everything, since the phone operates on a slick new Linux-based OS (as opposed to Windows Mobile and Mac OS) and features a modern design that is in the same league as the iPhone or any new Blackberry:

Pricing for the Nokia N900 has not been released yet, but one thing is for sure - it will be EXPENSIVE. Feature-laden with all the latest bells and whistles, we’ll go ahead and speculate that this nifty new smartphone from Nokia could be in the neighborhood of $300 - $500. That is a lot of money, and if you don’t have the extra cash to purchase this hot new smartphone, a great idea would be to consider a cash advance loan to allow you to purchase the gadget of your dreams.
